  • Alex Burton Area President-Alabama for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.

    Originally from Milton, GA, Alex attended Mississippi State University and graduated in 2009 with a degree in Risk Management, Insurance and Financial Planning. He was a 2008 Gallagher Summer Internship participant at the Gallagher Corporate Headquarters located in Itasca, IL-just outside of Chicago.

    Upon graduation from Mississippi State, Alex started his career as a broker with Gallagher in Itasca in the Public Sector and Higher Education Practices. Alex moved to the Gallagher-Atlanta office as an Area Assistant Vice President in April 2014 where he helped build Public Sector and Higher Education risk management programs in Georgia and the Southeast.

    In 2016, Alex was named Gallagher's Higher Education Practice Southeast Regional Director as he worked with multiple institutions of higher learning of all sizes across the Southeastern United States. In February of 2017, Alex was named a Power Broker for the Education Sector as well as given the Rising Star designation by Risk & Insurance Magazine.

    As Area President-Alabama, Alex oversees all operations of the Gallagher-Birmingham office.

  • Martha Lee Acker, CRM, CIC, CHSP Area Senior Vice President

    Martha Acker - Area Senior Vice President for the Senior Living Risk Partners division of  Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services. Martha completed the Insurance Studies Program at Calhoun Community College in 1983. Martha attended the Paralegal Studies program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  In 1988 received the Certified Insurance Counselor designation.  In 1997 received Certified HealthCare Safety Professional designation through Faulkner Community College and the Board of Certified Healthcare Safety Management. Received Certified Risk Manager designation in 1999 through Certified Risk Managers International, an organization affiliated with The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research.

    Martha successfully completed the Health Care Risk Management Certificate Program through the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM), a program of the American Hospital Association and Temple University.

    Martha and her staff have provided insurance, risk management, and claims services for the Senior Living industry for decades. Martha is a licensed property and casualty insurance agent in approximately thirty-five states, a surplus lines insurance broker and manages a Captive Insurance Company for Long Term Care Facilities. Martha was named a 2017 Power Broker by Risk & Insurance Magazine.

  • Lindsey Tomlinson Druhan, JD Director of Captive Insurance Programs

    Lindsey Tomlinson Druhan joined Gallagher in October, 2014. Prior to joining Gallagher, Lindsey practiced as an attorney with a primary focus on long term care defense litigation and regulatory compliance. Lindsey has had significant experience in arbitration enforcement and has served as defense counsel on many long term care wrongful death and medical malpractice cases. Lindsey was named a Rising Star for the State of Alabama by the 2013 and 2014 editions of Alabama Super Lawyers Magazine and is an AV rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings. Lindsey graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. Degree, summa cum laude in 2003. She went on to graduate from the Cumberland School of Law in 2006.

  • William S. Dodson, Jr., JD, CIC Senior Executive Vice President Regional Healthcare Director

    Billy graduated from the University of North Carolina and Vanderbilt University School of Law. Billy was an attorney at Cabaniss, Johnston, Gardner, Dumas & O'Neal and an attorney and Shareholder at Maynard, Cooper & Gale until he joined Robinson-Adams Insurance in 1993 to serve as President and General Counsel until Robinson Adams was acquired in 2011 by Arthur J. Gallagher.

    At Gallagher, Billy serves as Senior Executive Vice President and Regional Healthcare Director focusing on providing insurance, claims oversight and risk management services to Healthcare/Senior Living Providers, Law Firms, Financial Institutions and National/International/Alternative Risk Accounts. Billy is licensed in Alabama and many other states for property, casualty, surety bonds, life, health and disability insurance. Billy has been a Governor-appointed member of the Alabama Health Care Issues Task Force and a speaker at seminars regarding the formation of Captives and loss prevention for Senior Living facilities and Law Firms. Billy works with clients, carriers and outside vendor partners to develop insurance, loss prevention and claims management programs to reduce clients' total cost of risk.

  • Russell K. Crouch Healthcare Producer

    Russ graduated from the University of Alabama in 1980 with a BS degree in Business Administration and Banking. From 1980 -1987 he was a Premium Accounting Administrator with a national insurance company, then a Reinsurance Underwriter. He managed the Marketing Department and Insurance Operations from 1990 - 1999 for a national insurance company. From 1999 - 2006 he was Vice President of that company's Reinsurance Department and Insurance Operations. He also provided litigation support to the company's General Counsel and helped place the corporate insurance. Russ joined Senior Living Risk Partners division of Arthur J Gallagher Risk Management Services as the Assistant Director of Health Care.

  • Gerry H. Gilbert, MBA Area Vice President

    Regional Senior Living Director

    Gerry's primary focus is in designing and managing insurance and risk management programs for the Senior Care Industry, as well as additional segments of the Health Care Industry. Gerry graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Samford University and also received an MBA degree from Rockhurst University in Kansas City with a double concentration in Healthcare Management and Finance.

    Gerry has spent his career partnering with healthcare organizations to tailor comprehensive and cost effective insurance programs for the specific exposures of each client's operations. Gerry also has extensive experience developing and benchmarking risk control programs to reduce organizations professional liability, workers compensation and regulatory exposures.

  • Sam Moody, CLCS Healthcare Producer

    Originally from Montgomery, Alabama, Sam graduated magna cum laude from Troy University in 2018 with a degree in Risk Management and Insurance and a minor in Leadership Development. He was a 2017 Gallagher Summer Internship participant with the Birmingham office, where he gained valuable insight into the operations of our Senior Living and Healthcare specialities. 

    Upon graduation, Sam began his career with Gallagher as a producer associate. After spending a few months with Gallagher, Sam was added to the Senior Living Risk Partners Team. Sam's role will be to serve Gallagher's Senior Living Practice alongside his fellow producers and collegues, providing clients with optimal risk management programs and solutions.
