Alex Burton

Area President-Alabama and Jacksonville | Managing Director - Gallagher Senior Living Practice

Originally from Milton, GA, Alex attended Mississippi State University and graduated in 2009 with a degree in Risk Management, Insurance and Financial Planning. He was a 2008 Gallagher Summer Internship participant at the Gallagher Corporate Headquarters located in Itasca, IL-just outside of Chicago. Upon graduation from Mississippi State, Alex started his career as a broker with Gallagher in Itasca in the Public Sector and Higher Education Practices.

Alex moved to the Gallagher-Atlanta office as an Area Assistant Vice President in April 2014 where he helped build Public Sector and Higher Education risk management programs in Georgia and the Southeast. In 2016, Alex was named Gallagher's Higher Education Practice Southeast Regional Director as he worked with multiple institutions of higher learning of all sizes across the Southeastern United States. In February of 2017, Alex was named a Power Broker for the Education Sector as well as given the Rising Star designation by Risk & Insurance Magazine.

In June of 2020, Alex was recognized by Business Insurance Magazine as a Break Out Award winner due to his work and leadership in the insurance industry. As Area President - Alabama/Southeast Florida,  Alex's current responsibilities include the management and oversight of Gallagher's Property/Casualty brokerage operations and growth strategy in Gallagher's Birmingham, Alabama office as well as the Jacksonville, Florida office location. Additionally, Alex also serves as Co-Managing Director of Gallagher's National Senior Living Practice, specializing in property & casualty insurance placements for clients, along with alternative risk and fist-dollar programs.

Sam Moody, CLCS

Area President - Alabama

Originally from Montgomery, AL Sam attended Troy University where he graduated with a degree in Risk Management and Insurance. After completing an internship with Gallagher in 2017, Sam joined the Gallagher Birmingham office in August of 2018 and quickly established himself as a key team member within the National Senior Living Practice. He completed his Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS) designation in 2018. By serving his clients and prospective clients well and becoming a trusted advisor within the Gallagher Senior Living Team, Sam rose from a Client Executive to serving as the Senior Director of Gallagher's National Senior Living Practice.

As Senior Director, Sam's focus was on the structuring, marketing, and implementation of optimal insurance solutions for clients within the Senior Living space, but Sam also prides himself on his dedication to communicating emerging risks, changing exposures, and innovative ideas within the senior living industry. These key components remain a priority to Sam as well as continuous education and keeping his clients informed of the ever changing landscape within the Senior Living arena.

In June 2022, Sam was named the Area President for Alabama. In this role, Sam will be leading and serving the operations and growth of Gallagher Alabama's Property & Casualty insurance brokerage. As an insurance professional, Sam sees himself as an extension of his clients' risk management department by providing proactive risk management solutions and insurance programs are positively impacted as a result.

Martha Lee Acker, CRM, CIC, CHSP

Area Senior Vice President

Martha Acker - Area Senior Vice President for the Senior Living Risk Partners division of  Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services. Martha completed the Insurance Studies Program at Calhoun Community College in 1983. Martha attended the Paralegal Studies program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  In 1988 received the Certified Insurance Counselor designation.  In 1997 received Certified HealthCare Safety Professional designation through Faulkner Community College and the Board of Certified Healthcare Safety Management. Received Certified Risk Manager designation in 1999 through Certified Risk Managers International, an organization affiliated with The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research.

Martha successfully completed the Health Care Risk Management Certificate Program through the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM), a program of the American Hospital Association and Temple University.

Martha and her staff have provided insurance, risk management, and claims services for the Senior Living industry for decades. Martha is a licensed property and casualty insurance agent in approximately thirty-five states, a surplus lines insurance broker and manages a Captive Insurance Company for Long Term Care Facilities. Martha was named a 2017 Power Broker by Risk & Insurance Magazine.

Gerry H. Gilbert, MBA

Area Vice President - Executive Director, National Senior Living Practice

Gerry's primary focus is in designing and managing insurance and risk management programs for the Senior Care Industry, as well as additional segments of the Health Care Industry. Gerry graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Samford University and also received an MBA degree from Rockhurst University in Kansas City with a double concentration in Healthcare Management and Finance.

Gerry has spent his career partnering with healthcare organizations to tailor comprehensive and cost effective insurance programs for the specific exposures of each client's operations. Gerry also has extensive experience developing and benchmarking risk control programs to reduce organizations professional liability, workers compensation and regulatory exposures.

Jason Haynie

Jason is a graduate of Auburn University with a BS degree in Finance. Prior to joining Gallager Risk Management Services, Jason worked in the insurance industry for over 12 years.

Morgan Vanlandingham

Client Executive- Senior Living Practice

Morgan is a broker specialist in Gallagher's National Senior Living Practice. Morgan believes in putting the client first and assisting with their insurance program through a consultative risk management approach. Morgan brings a high-level work ethic to best optimize the client's risk portfolio.

Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Morgan attended the University of Alabama where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations and Sales. Morgan was a participant in the 2022 Gallagher Summer Internship in the Birmingham office and joined the Gallagher team full-time in August of 2023. In her spare time, Morgan enjoys traveling and spending time with family.
